Marylands Boarding House
Marylands is a boarding facility for Battle Abbey School Sixth Formers.
Previously a private home and has been newly refurbished to a very high standard with the accommodation designed to offer the pupils a proper home that is both comfortable and conducive to study. Students are encouraged to develop independence in preparation for university life but with guidance and supervision when required. There are spacious study bedrooms, large living areas, fully equipped kitchens and even a conservatory. Furnishings are all new and in keeping with the homely atmosphere which the school likes to maintain. There is a large garden and grounds of 4.5 acres. The house is located on the outskirts of the town of Battle. Although only a short walk from the main school site a mini bus services runs between the sites.
The house accommodates 7 boys and 10 girls who can mix during the day but sleep in secure, separate wings. Head of Key Stage 4 and PE Teacher, Mr Rob Mercer, lives on site with his wife and family. Additional support is provided by a female matron who sleeps on the girls’ wing.
The boys’ wing has 3 singles and 2 twin bedroom, a kitchen/dining room, living room, 2 family style bathrooms and 1 separate toilet.
The girls’ wing has 1 single bedroom, 3 twins and 1 (very large) triple room, a kitchen dining room, living room, snug and 4 bathrooms
