Travelling
arrangements
Beginning
of Term:
Boarders arrive at Battle Abbey between 2.00 pm and 4.00 pm on the day before school begins. It is appreciated if parents who bring their children by car assist them to unpack before leaving.
Weekly Boarders:
Weekly boarders may go home each Friday when their lessons end (4.10 pm) and return each Sunday by 8.00 pm (If returning after school supper, usually 6.30 pm, they will need to have had supper before returning to school.)
WEEKLY BOARDERS WITH WEEKEND COMMITMENTS (MATCHES, REHEARSALS ETC.) MUST EITHER DELAY THEIR DEPARTURE, RETURN EARLY, OR COME IN FOR THE PERIOD REQUIRED.
Exeats:
SUBJECT TO THE FULFILMENT OF THEIR WEEKEND COMMITMENTS, full boarders may take Exeats at the discretion of Mr Clark or Mr Patel.
Arrangements for Exeats must be agreed between a pupil and Mr Clark or Mr Patel, as appropriate, by the preceding Wednesday. Confirmation by the pupil's parents or guardians will be required if public transport is involved or the arrangement involves an overnight stay other than with the pupil's parent(s) or guardian(s). In such cases we will also need confirmation of the invitation from the person concerned.
Pupils should return by supper time, usually 6.30 pm, unless alternative arrangements have been made with Mr Patel.
NO PUPIL BELOW YEAR 9 MAY TRAVEL TO OR FROM AN EXEAT ON PUBLIC TRANSPORT UNLESS ACCOMPANIED BY AN ADULT.
End of Term:
Boarders must travel home at the end of each term on the Boarders' Travelling Day specified. However, boarders whose parents attend the Carol Service (Autumn Term) may go home with them thereafter.
Travel Forms:
Travel forms are sent to the parents, and, where appropriate, guardians of all boarders. These forms, one for half-term and one for the end of term, should be completed and returned not less than two weeks before the day of departure.
PARENTS WISHING THE SCHOOL TO MAKE SPECIAL ARRANGEMENTS (e.g. FLIGHTS ABROAD, TAXIS etc.) ARE ASKED TO SEND THE TRAVEL FORM WELL IN ADVANCE.
Uniform:
Pupils travel to and from school in uniform. This rule is waived for Exeats and half-terms provided the pupils are collected from and returned to school by private car.
