Many old pupils and teachers gathered once more at St Mary's church in beautiful sunshine to celebrate Founders' Day on October 7.

 

 

 

 

The house banners were proudly displayed with the help of pupils from the prep school.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Some recent pupils were also there and brought everyone up to date on their progress.

 

 

 

 

 

Everyone pored over the photos from the archives during a magnificent lunch.

Forty pupils and staff took part in the British Heart Foundation walk from Pevensey to Battle on Sept 24

 

 

 

 

 

 

Year 12 had a Teambuilding session at the start of the new term.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Some strenuous activities were enjoyed by the participants.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

All Year 9 pupils had a day off lessons on Sept 8. Various games and role playing were used to acquaint old and new Year 9 pupils with each other.

 

 

 

 

 

 

They had to buy and cook their own food at the barbeque in the Headmaster's garden.

 

 

 

 

 

The examination results this year were spectacular – at both A and GCSE Level the number of A Grades increased.
At GCSE 100% of pupils achieved at least 6 A* to C Grades, and the number of A’s increased from 46% to 54%.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Mrs Hughes arranged a week of tennis coaching for students from both the Abbey and the Prep School during the summer holidays.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The improvement in standard of play was very noticeable.

The Easter ski trip was to the Aosta Valley

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Prep School Nativity Play was enjoyed by everyone who watched or took part.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Our students took in all the sights on their trip to Paris at Easter

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Many activities were organised for Open Day in January.

 

 

 

 

 

Sixth Form students are very proud of the new reflecting telescope which we have just acquired with the help of
many kind supporters.

 

 

 

 

The Sixth Form Business Studies had a wonderful trip to New York - at the peak of the snow storm - and were welcomed into the Board Room.

 

 

 

 

 

Harold's Night is always celebrated with a party for the boarders.

 

 

 

 

By tradition the cake is cut by the youngest student with fair hair.

 

 

 

 

 

 

The facilities in the new Performing Arts Centre are already being put to good use.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Budding stage technicians are learning how the lighting and mixing consoles work.

 

 

 

 

 

The annual Founder's Day Service took place in St Mary's church. We were very pleased to see many former pupils again this year.

 

 

 

 

A magnificent buffet greeted guests in the recently refurbished library.

 

 

 

 

 

 

The firsat production in the new Performing Arts Centre was Cider With Rosie.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

This proved to be a very fine production with excellent acting skills shown by the participants.

 

 

 

 

 

Special celebrations were put on for the official opening of the new Performing Arts building.

 

 

 

 

 

Performances were, of course, emphasised thoughout the day.
