Duke of Edinburgh Scheme
 
The Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award is seen as the World’s leading achievement award for young people, and Battle Abbey School fully supports the scheme. We also offer the direct entry Gold award which is open to any member of the Sixth Form. 

There are five sections to the award; volunteering, physical, skills, expedition and residential. Participants will be guided through the Award and are given assistance in their decisions on what activities to complete for each section.
 
The expedition section will involve a practice expedition, which this year will be in the Easter holidays on Dartmoor, and a final expedition which this year will be in the Summer holidays in the Brecon Beacons. Full instruction on the necessary skills to complete the expedition section will be given prior to the trips.
