This is a two year course leading to a GCSE (AQA). The course reflects the practical nature of drama, as well as incorporating differing approaches and philosophies. The course encourages an interest in and understanding of a range of drama and theatre experiences; an increase in self and group awareness; and skills in imaginative, creative, cognitive, communication and social development. Students will be expected to go on trips to the theatre.
60% Practical course work – Based on performance and or technical design skills. The mark for each unit is based on work in progress. The final performance and a short essay.
40% Examination – Two essays on a choice of either set texts (candidates have their text in the exam) or a performance seen (candidates have their notes in the exam).
