Edexcel Performing Arts
This is an AS and A2 course that is designed for those students who are interested in all aspects of the Performing Arts or who are hoping to pursue a career in Performing Arts.  The course provides an introduction to a broad understanding of the performing arts industry and enables students to develop their skills in an area of their choice.  Units are both theoretical and practical and involve research, independent learning and team work.  Assessment is through portfolios and practical work.
 
Students can choose to focus on any of the following:
• Arts administration and marketing
• Design
• Drama
• Music
• Music technology
• Technical and production aspects of performance
AS Level
Unit 1:  Exploring Skills for Performance
Assessment: through portfolio and evidence of practical progress
Unit 2:  Planning for an Event
Assessment:  a report, action plan and evaluation of planning
Unit 3:  Performing to a Commission
Working as part of the team you will produce a performance in response to a commission set by the exam board.
Assessment:  Performance or chosen technical/design skill. Short presentation to the external moderator
A2 Level
 
Unit 4:  Employment Opportunities in the Performing Arts
Assessment:  Report on employment opportunities. Evaluation of your skill development in relation to employment
Unit 5:  Advanced Performance Practice  - Optional
Assessment:  Internally assessed performance and portfolio
  
  OR
 
Unit 6:  Advanced Production Practice
Assessment:  Internally assessed evidence and portfolio
 
Unit 7:  Production Delivery  - externally assessed
Performance in response to a Production Brief, using any or all of the performing arts, not devised but based on existing material, performed in a context of the group’s  choosing to an appropriate audience.
